3 Easy Homemade Christmas Decorations

There is something special, and particularly festive about foraging in nature, then going home and getting creative. So why not some pennies and have a go making your own Christmas decorations!

1. Mini Rosemary Wreath

Rosemary is a beautiful herb which is fresh and fragrant. You may have a rosemary bush in your garden, or can forage some nearby. Pick some locally and have fun making these mini wreaths! All you’ll need is rosemary, ribbon in any colour you like, plus some string.

You want to cut long pieces of rosemary, then simply bend this into a circle, using the string to tie it together. Then using the ribbon, tie a bow, and thats it! There perfect to place on napkins as name tags, or hung around your home.

2. Make An Orange Garland

Making an orange garland is a beautiful festive decoration, that gives a space accents of colour, plus it smells divine and is a lovely gift to a loved one this Christmas.

Simply buy large oranges, making sure they’re firm ones. Slice them thinly, and place onto a baking tray with parchment. With a tissue press on the oranges to get as much of the juice out. Then put into the oven at 100 degrees for two hours, ensuring to flip them every half an hour.

Once done and cooled, use twine to thread the oranges together, and there you have a beautiful garland to gift to a loved one. You can add ribbon, foraged foliage, and anything else you wish to add to give it an extra festive flare.

3. Paper Stars Garland

Have some old newspapers or damaged books lying around? Why not use the pages and make your own paper stars! Gather some card, string, glue and gold or silver paint if you fancy.

Simply stick the pages onto card, flip it over and outline stars in a mixture of sizes. Then cut them out, painting the non paper side if you like. Lay out the string and either thread them through making a small hole on the stars, or stick them on. Then there you have it! Perfect for going around the tree, or along the mantel piece.
