  • Housel Bay is the UK mainland’s most southerly hotel. A mere 15 minutes walk along the coast and you will reach the official tip of UK mainland, ‘Lizard Point’.

  • The Lizard Lighthouse is the most southerly lighthouse on British mainland, and it’s just a short walk from Housel Bay hotel. You may even be able to spot this landmark through your window, see the beam across the sea, or hear the foghorn on misty nights.

  • Cadgwith is one of those Cornish fishing villages that time seems to have passed by. The beach is still very much the centre of the village, with a small fleet of crabbing boats winched up on the beach in front of the boat houses.

It’s where we source most of our seafood at the hotel.

  • The Lizard Lighthouse is a working Lighthouse, providing a welcoming landfall light to vessels crossing the Atlantic Ocean.

During foggy weather you won't miss the sound of the fog horn, keeping the vessels safe (we recommend bringing ear plugs for light sleepers - we provide them at reception too). Tours are available from Spring.

  • One of our earliest guests, back in 1900, Italian inventor Guglielmo Marconi undertook ground breaking wireless experiments on The Lizard.

You can now visit Marconi’s Lizard Wireless Station, to see how he developed technology on remote Cornish clifftops that paved the way for today’s instant world-wide communication.

If you want to switch off, breathe in some refreshing sea air, eat well and immerse yourself in some of the finest natural surroundings that Cornwall and the UK can offer, then you’ll be in good hands here
